While the Northwest Drylands are still his favorite location to capture, John has had the opportunity to travel extensively (and photograph) for book projects and road trips outside of the Pacific Northwest.  Along with his author friend, Richard Scheuerman, John has explored Vienna, Russia, and China.  He and his wife, Sharon, have traveled to Hawaii, the British Isles, Ireland, and Wales.  He has also taken photography trips with fellow artists Richard Barrington and Jess Lopatynski through the US, and in the summer or 2015, took a long trip storm hunting with his youngest daughter, Colleen Bratton.
